Ruby's Story

Connie (FKA Ruby)'s Story

April 5 – June 20, 2022

Ruby arrived at her new home on June 20th. She was welcomed with open arms (and paws) by my husband, Jim, me, and our seven-month-old border collie, Maizy.

She seemed comfortable right from the beginning. She explored her new back yard and the 10 acres she now calls home. She has claimed an old couch in the den as the best place in the house to see what is happening outside or for a quick nap.

Ruby is a confident, sensitive girl and wants to do the right thing. She only chews her chew toys, goes outside for her private business, and loves being with “her people”. She also loves playing with Maizy in the backyard and in the pastures.

She has discovered the neighboring cows, goats, horses, and Australian Shepherds. She has spied the barn cats and is now approaching them calmly and sniffing them gently. She was extremely interested in a jackrabbit that she startled while adventuring one day.

She loves her afternoon naps after spending the mornings in the barn and pastures while chores are done. She watches as the two horses are fed and watered, fly sprayed, and prepared for the day.

Ruby seems very happy and content. She makes sure we are all accounted for every morning. She has adjusted well for being here less than a month. We are working on recall and being off leash longer in the approximate 4-acre fields. She is as fast as the wind. Being a Vizsla-bloodhound, she loves all the smells out in the country. She is healthy and she is so well loved! We look forward to many wonderful years with her.

We are very grateful to Rita and all those involved with 2nd Chance Vizsla Rescue.
