Genny 's RB Story

Genny's RB Story

February 4, 2008 – March 24, 2019

Genny came into Vizsla Rescue from KS. She was a member of the KS 8 who came into rescue as a result of a KS Animal Health Dept raid. She was approximately 4 yrs old. There were 7 purebred Vizslas and one Vizsla/Brittany mix. They were all taken immediately to our vet to have all their vet work done including spay. Genny made the trip from KS to CO on February 23rd and went to her new foster family for evaluation. Genny survived a horrible situation. We referred to her as disguising herself as a Vizsla so she could be rescued with all the others.

This little girl was indeed a challenge. Since she was in her first foster home (there were 3) she's was fearful about absolutely everything. The good news is that her first foster was able to help her experience that things are OK and she was becoming less and less apprehensive as long as she was near her foster care giver.

Genny was moved to another foster home temporarily before moving to her permanent foster home with me in Fort Collins. She had some health issues which were taken care of and this helped her behavior quite a lot. Genny had several Vs to play with and they all got along great. Genny was finally a happy girl and for the most part put her past behind her.

She loved being in the house and went willingly in her crate. She loved it when there were new puppies and kittens in the house. Besides being foster parents for the Vizsla, we also saved feral kittens and cats. Genny loved being mom to all the babies. She was really happy being in a loving home. Unfortunately due to her fears we could not place her in another home so she lived her last years with us. She always got up in the morning as a very happy girl and ran out the door like a shot to the rear of the property. She was so sweet and loving and eager to please. We figure she was approximately 15 to 16 years old. She passed on peacefully in her sleep. I think about her every day and look forward to seeing her again. She is now free of her pain. - Rita
