Fenix's RB Story

Fenix's RB Story

Fenix came into 2nd Chance as an owner surrender from Wichita KS. The reason for surrender was that Fenix had serious food aggression issues and bit the 12-year-old child over spilt dog food. He also did not get along with cats or other dogs.

Fenix was being temporarily fostered by Rita. I had 2 cats & 2 dogs (one foster and one my personal dog who was 13 years old). He tried once to assert food aggression and I stopped that right away and never had an incident again. I made him sit in his crate for a minute and then gave him his food.

Whenever I took Fenix out in the yard I put a slip lead on him to usher him outside. He really liked running in my backyard. I loved seeing him have so much fun. Did I tell you he was “drop dead” gorgeous?

He made a big mistake when I was taking him out to the backyard. He was on my left and then my Chili, 13 years old female, came into my back room on my right and Fenix lunged her with open mouth to attract her, but my leg was in the way and I got bit in my upper thigh. I will never forget the look on his face as he realized what he had done. And, he dropped down in a submission act. I called my vet the next day to make arrangements to have him euthanized and was told that he had to be quarantined for 10 days first.

When I took him to the vet I did go with him and forgave him. I am so mad at all the irresponsible breeders. He was a beautiful purebred Vizsla only 5 years young.

I will meet you again at the Rainbow Bridge.
